Nature Blog

January 27, 2009
The nature program at CKMinisink is a favorite for many campers, and one reason why is that there are 500 acres to explore! The nature program offers many different types of activities…. learning to build a one match fire, shelter building, bird watching, becoming aware of the plants and animals who have made CKM their home, hiking, outdoor cooking, sleeping out under the stars…
In addition, with increased attention on “the greening of CKMinisink”, campers help the entire camp community become responsible for conservation… I’m sure you are now very aware of the phrase “reduce, re-use, recycle”! We have even spent time developing simple solar ovens for baking AND we will continue to develop this program.
This popular outdoor program continues to evolve under the leadership of Kaley Odland, who is returning to camp for his seventh summer on our staff!
As with all of our program activities, campers choose the nature activities that they want to participate in.
Are there activities that you would like us to add to our nature program? Kaley is always open to suggestions! Just click here to send us your ideas.
Enjoy your day!
Jani
